So we travelled to the other side of Vancouver Island to Tofino which is a popular surfing resort in the summer. Very similar to Devon in some respects. We stayed in a lovely B&B where our bedroom overlooked Duffin Cove - see our view below it was amazing.

We booked a 'Whale Watching Trip' where we went around all the little islands around Tofino looking for sealife. Below is a picture of our skipper Tony who was brilliant and so enthusiastic about everything. Also below is a photo of James in his sailing suit, and me in mine. The difference is I make this shit look good :p And because James looks like a ghostbuster in his...

We saw a couple of grey whales, at one point we were quite close to them, not close enough to get a close photo of them. We also saw some sea lions which were looking very lazy lying on some rocks.

The highlight was seeing some white sided dolphins who were playing with the boat and were swimming all around us - we could practically touch them. Tony said that in all his time of going out to this area daily, that this was the second time he had seen dolphins in 20 years, so we were incredibly lucky. Apparently there were about 40 of them. It was incredible, not sure the photos do the experience justice.

Road Trip
Since the journey took over 3 hours over some pretty dicey mountain roads we decided to take it easy on the return trip and stop off to sight see. This was a place called 'Wally Creek'. Brilliant name I know. You can tell how high up we were as the we were in the clouds.

There was a forest near Cameron Lake which we wandered round. The trees were HUGE and some of them hollow and if there was a big enough chip at the front you could walk into them.

And we thought these towns sounded funny :p
